ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday challenged the Peshawar High Court's (PHC) decision on PTI's intra-party polls and award of bat symbol.

The decision was taken in a meeting held here to mull over the Peshawar High Court's (PHC) decision on PTI's intra-party polls and allotment of bat symbol.

The top electoral body decided in its meeting that PHC ruling would be challenged in the Supreme Court. The legal team was asked to prepare the petition for filing in the Supreme Court.

On Wednesday the PHC had ruled that ECP's decision to declare PTI's intra-party polls as null and void was illegal. The court also directed the ECP to allot bat symbol to the party. It also ordered the election commission to issue PTI's certificate on its website.

In this regard, PTI's lawyer Ali Zafar said if ECP did not restore party's bat symbol it would be a contempt of court. He said his party was ready to fight the case if the top election body challenged the decision in the apex court.
